CAAC is the abbreviation for Civil Aviation Administration of China - formerly the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China. It is the aviation authority working under the Ministry of the People’s Republic of China. The main function of this authority to oversee the civil aviation and to investigate in any accident and incident occurring related to its competence.
The headquarter is located in Beijing.
The CAAC was founded in 1949 to overlook and manage all non-military aviation in China.
Formerly also involved in commercial flight service with on flight operation it became solely a government agency since 1988.
